An article in The New York Times heaped praise on Perth this week, with travel writer Baz Dresinger describing it as a “progressive, user-friendly and oh-so-funky city”.
Here at True Blue Migration, we can’t agree more!
Western Australia’s capital city has so much to offer and here are just 5 reasons why we think you should consider moving there.
1. The Economy
WA is Australia’s top performing economy and ranks above most other states when it comes to employment and economic growth.
2. The Climate
Perth has a Mediterranean climate, with very mild winters and hot summers. If it’s sunshine that you’re after, then you’ll find plenty on offer in this gem of a city. For most of the year Perth basks in glorious weather and its residents enjoy a relaxed, outdoor lifestyle.
3. The Beaches
Perth is home to some of the world’s most spectacular beaches. In fact, there are so many to choose from it’s not uncommon to find you that have a whole beach to yourself. Some of Perth’s most popular beaches include Cottesloe Beach, Scarborough Beach, City Beach and Port Beach. Warm, turquoise waters and bright white sand… what’s not to love!
4. Rottnest Island
Perth is just a short ferry trip away from the paradise that is Rottnest Island. Adored by Perth residents, Rottnest Island is home to no less than 63 beaches and 20 secluded bays. Get the ferry over from Fremantle in the morning and spend a day snorkelling, cycling, picnicking and basking in glorious sunshine. There’s even accommodation on the island, so you can stay longer if you want to!
5. The Laidback Lifestyle
Perth is one of the most isolated cities in the world. Once you leave Perth… well… there isn’t much around until you reach the east coast! Most people agree that life is a little more laid back in Perth, compared to other cities. Perthites love spending time outdoors too and it’s little wonder with the number of beautiful parks and public BBQs that are dotted around the city.
